defenses down
always circumspect contemplating a checkmate wily politics ............... looming thunderheads the trees silently wonder when will lightning strike ....................... /original/zg
The image of those trees make me think of being helpless, without defense, whereas those calculating politicians choose their move and chose to be defensive. This contrast is striking. Thank you.
Both very different, but excellent and thought provoking. Your tree poem made me think of my poor old pine tree that is no more. I kind of hope it was caught by surprise and wasn't worrying. I hope the beings of nature are too smart to waste their time worrying about what may or may not come their way. I wish I could unlearn worry. I try but it's an old deep habit.
The last one brings to mind the people of Louisiana and Florida.

ReplyDeleteA very fitting pair of poems for these times.
ReplyDeleteeven nature has its defenses, and can be caught defenseless.

ReplyDeleteBoth these poems made me think of how helpless we can feel sometimes in the world we live in.
ReplyDeleteWell done indeed...
Thanks Zoya.
ReplyDeleteI like these. The second is my favorite.
Hi Zoya, I never thought of a tree that way. A lot of people are defenseless, their defenses are always down.
ReplyDelete..
An interesting pairing of two strikingly different haiku. One is close to being take it as you see it. The other is open to interpretation.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes - how nicely done these are!
ReplyDeleteTwo well-written haiku. Nature has its politics. And chess has its lighting strikes.
ReplyDeletewhen will lightning strike indeed. the poor trees.
ReplyDeleteBoth very good poems. I like the imagination (imagery?) needed to write the second. The first made me laugh, but in a painful way.
ReplyDelete''Sincerely Thank Each One Of U..
